everything you need to know about dermal fillers.

What are dermal fillers?

what should i expect during my treatment?

who can have dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers come in various formulations, each of which works differently in softening the lines, folds, creases and loss of volume associated with age.

Fillers are also effective for contouring of the face, to create fuller lips’ more defined jawline, a snatched chin or plumper cheeks for example.

The most popular fillers and the ones that we use, are derived from hyaluronic acid, a water binding sugar that is already produced in the skin.

Hyaluronic acid fillers are usually well tolerated and if you don’t like your result, they can be reversed by injecting an enzyme called hyaluronidase, which helps to dissolve hyaluronic acid fillers.

Hyaluronic acid fillers are temporary because they are eventually absorbed by the body.

Fillers are appropriate for any skin type but will only be administered to over 18s.

Fillers are not recommended to be used by pregnant or breast feeding women therefore we will not administer them if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Filler treatments begin with a numbing cream which helps to take away the majority of the pain when injecting. The product used by us, also has lidocaine within it - helping to numb the area as the treatment is taking place. The discomfort associated with dermal fillers is minimal.

A syringe needle or cannula injects a gel-like substance at various depths. A series of injections evenly disperses the filler. This filler substance, fills up the area, resulting in improvements such as smoother and fuller lips, fuller cheekbones or more definition to the jaw.

Certain areas may be more sensitive during treatment, for example - lip filler may cause more discomfort to the patient than cheek filler.

If you are happy with your results once healed (after 2 weeks) you can maintain your results by having top up treatments approximately every 6-9 months.

If after the 2 weeks healing, you are missing your swelling and want to build on your filler - you can come back for more, along as the same product is used.
